What an Inspiration!
Katherine Dunham has made a huge impact on me. I respect her as an artist, dancer, choreographer, activist, and anthropologist. She has inspired me to keep working on my movement. Not only has it inspired me to keep dancing, but it has inspired me to go beyond what anyone thinks is normal in my creativity and continue to do what I love. If my artistry does not look like anyone else’s work, it is ok to be different and bold because one day it may be respected and taught all over just as Katherine Dunham’s. I would consider researching more about the history of the moves I learn.
